The Colour Green So Serene

Green is the colour of calm of growth and jealously. Designers often use green for a claming effect, and researchers have found that green can help you read better. The complimentary colour for green is red.

Recapturing Elegance

I was looking for inspiration for my duo green rooms I need to paint up for a colour excercise, and came across this lovely bathroom.
It also made me a little homesick as it is a similar bathroom to the one I designed for our holiday house, which is an old church in the Otway National Park, in Victoria.
This bathroom looks so calm just with the white and the pistachio green. Perfect;the house has certainly reclaimed its'1938 heritage, and retains an easy uplift with just the simplicity of the elements.

Inspiring Sophie Conran

To be honest I hadn't heard of Sophie, only of her famous father and her brother Jasper. I came across her in a magazine recently and loved her use of bold colours. Design obviously runs through the veins of this family. Sophie's other success is a great range of pies, a number of cookbooks and now a ceramic range with Portmeiron. Pity I'm not in Melbourne anymore as one of her sumptous pies would make a lovely meal around a hearwarming fire.

Kid's Room

A final note on children's rooms.
I was out today looking at some wonderful new wallpapers from Designer Guild. They are so clever with their use of bright colours.
I love this kid's room with the use of the old recycled furniture and the twist of the modern colours harking backt to a retro 70's design in the wallpaper - just gorgeous.

Whimsical Prints

I also found these whimsical prints on "Etsy" which would be a lovely and inexpensive accessory to a child's room. Don't they just take you back to another time.

Bub's Boudoir

I love the use of the recycled cot here with John Robshaw's new range of baby bedding "Noah's Ark".

I also think using a fairly neutral palette for a child's room is great, it's not only calming for settling baby, it can also grow with them, and it's an easy one to add your own style to for a boy or girl.

Why Seedpod Design?

SeedPod represents a fresh look a new beginning, but it also gives a nod to the inspiration we find daily in nature both in colour and design.
SeedPod style looks to nature to provide clues as to how we can design our living spaces, and our living to be more fully integrated with our environment.
With sustainability a big issue I believe we should constantly be striving to be more aware of our environment, and hope my design style evolves to incorporate where possible ethical solutions, or elements of nature to remind us of the importance of our environment.
The beautiful photos of seedpods to inspire you today courtesy of http://www.fotosearch.com/free-stock-photos/.

About Me

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Hi, my name is Sally. I have decided to use my blog as an inspiration journal for my interior design course, and as a way to catalogue my source file. I have an interest in sustainable design both interior and exterior. My style is to use beautiful reinvented recylcled pieces, and to mix these with modern materials, where possible incorporating a sustainable approach. I hope you find my blog interesting.
